Interesting. The company that makes Epiweb (the European equivalent) do sell it as cubes to pot up in that sort of way. I've never tried it though.

I'm using some of the same cubes w/a few different test plants.

I like it as a bottom filler in pots. I'm also using it as a lone medium w/a couple of plants...as well as w/lava w/some test plants.

It's too light weight to use w/anything that might prove top heavy but for the smaller plants...it seems to be working well. I'm still in the first year of using it so I don't have long term results but so far I'm pleased w/it. Roots aren't afraid of growing into it...that's for sure.

I haven't used it in an s/h type setting because it doesn't appear to wick water up very well.

Keep us updated. I don't have any hopes of this stuff wicking at all, rather I want something very open and airy but that will allow the plant to grow in to a reservoir. So a modified sh. I love that it is so light. It makes sh pots that hang possible.

Please post a pic. I just ordered a sheet for a sprawling bulbo. I want to plant it on a flat plane and keep it in water.

Ray,
I have been intending to join your forum on your website. Would it be possible to have a topic on this in your forum. It would be great to have a designated place to post pictures and questions about ecoweb and the cubes.

Well... That IS "The Official Semi-Hydroponics Forum", and EcoWeb has absolutely nothing to do with S/H culture, but I suppose I can add another section for other non-traditional stuff.

Hi Ray,
There or of it can be added here. Since some of us (def. myself) are interested in learning about and using ecoweb and aquamat an area dedicated to it would be great.

If there is enough interest in a dedicated area here then we could ask Marty to add a section.

I've not really thought of it as an area in it's own right, but maybe

Maybe a dedicated section for media?

If I recall, most of the Epiweb/EcoWeb posts are either here in S/H or in "Growing on Mounts". I'd be concerned about having too many forums to look at for info.

I've been dying to try it cubed in a pot with some of my Masdies and Pleurothallids. I'm sure the roots would be much happier as it would be more like growing in living moss, but until I get my orchidarium set up, I'm afraid they would be more work than they are now.

Cheers.
Jim

Nice plant Ryan. Is that Rays Ascofinetia Moonlight Firefly?

Ironically, I have a Neo. fan (I think might be Benisuzume) that fell off and dropped on a slab of EcoWeb I forgot about under the bench. It is growing quite happily with new roots throughout.

Cheers.
Jim
