general S/H recommendations ?

Hey,

I just started doing S/H for a few of my orchids.
The orchids are planted in LECA/lava rock mix, with some moss on the top mostly so I can figure out when the setup is dry. The lower LECAs are submerged in water, while the roots are far away from the solid water. However the moss is fairly constantly wet up top.

What I am curious about, is the level of moisture I should be maintaining without risking root rot.

I have in mind a Sophronitis x Cattleya hybrid that apparently likes it on the moist side.

I am sure you will find it enlightening and most of your questions will be answered.

If you are using LECA then don't use lava and moss, you will find out as time goes that the debris, algae and decay will be harder flush so you do not want to add more to the obstacles.
