I did it!

Today I did it---I repotted everything into S/H. I am so tired of the guesswork on watering. I even repotted the vanda. The only thing I have not repotted in S/H is my Phrag Grande Maybrook, because it has 3 buds and I am afraid to disturb it. I lost the buds on my ang sequipedale, and I have no idea why, so I am afraid to repot the phrag while it is in spike. Does anyone think I can safely repot it?

I have 3 new orchids being shipped out to me mon. A phrag besseae, phrag schlimii, and a paph lowii. They are all in spike. Do I need to wait til after the blooms fall off to repot?

I personally would wait to repot, when I switched my phrag to S/H it was in bud and I lost it

I have repotted orchids in bud but just ones in the oncidium family which really don't care. I poke/cut holes in the pots of others if the media is broken down to save the roots and wait until after the blooming is over. No point in wasting the blooms and having to wait another year....

Wow! How are they doing? You are braver than I am. I have a few that I'm switching over but I want to see how they do before venturing any further. I'm a chicken that way!

Some yellowing leaves and falling off occurred, but right now everything is looking good. I did think my Darwin's orchid, Zygo and Vanda were going to die, but they are hanging in there. The Darwin's lost all it's leaves and I picked it up to throw it away and notices a green sprout, so it got a reprieve. The Zygos lost the leaves on all three bulbs but is growing a new one. I don't know what to do about the dead bulbs, though. And the Vanda looks like it's roots are plumping up. so I think everything is going to adapt. But I did scare them into it. I told them that if they did not adapt they could just die, lol

The other orchids are all doing well.

Ditto on waiting for new root growth to transplant to s/h. I had a really nice besseae that I ignored all advice to time the move with root growth. It took about 6 months, but it was a slow miserable death.

I am in the same transition now. 1 phal took to s/h and waiting for oncdiums to drop flower to ready up for transplant. Feeding the oncidium kelp extract already to promote root growth. should start drop flowers in another 2-3 weeks.
