Newbie 2 months and 9 orchids in...

I managed to find some decent little 24oz clear cups in the soup section of the deli at the Safeway in the Castro-- the other places I checked only went up to maybe 12 or 16oz. These are very similar in size to my 5" net pots. They let me have half a dozen for free!

I punched a little slit in each one 1" from the bottom, and now all my phals and my Neo-- er, scuse me, Vandachostylis, or whatever it is now-- are in these clear pots. They look comfy.

Now I just need to find some 32oz ones for my bigger orchids. I'd like to be able to just stick them in a pot large enough for some years' growth and just leave them be-- although there's the lifespan of the plastic to deal with.

Just ordered it from The Orchid Gallery. USPS stomped on the box a little and left it on my doorstep all day while I was at work, but the packaging-- lots of shredded newspaper the whole length of the plant, and taped down around the pot to keep the media in-- seemed pretty effective. It had clearly just been repotted just before shipping, so it was super easy to pour out the bark and tuck it into a S/H pot. Thank heavens. If I have to wrestle with that goddamn tangled sphagnum moss one more time... I'll scream.
