Default Blooms in Semi-Hydro Vs. Blooms in other media

Hello,

I have noticed that blooms of my cymbidiums in Semi-Hydro last much longer than the blooms on a cymbidium that I got as a gift that was planted in traditional medium.

The cymbidium in the traditional medium bloomed about two weeks after the cymbidiums in Semi-hydro, and now the blloms are starting to fade, while the blooms in Semi-Hydro haven't lost any of their beauty.

Interesting ...

How long did the blooms on the traditionally potted Cym last? My Cym hybrids (potted in fir bark mix) usually hold their blooms for about three months...

The blooms lasted short of 8 weeks, given they get the same care and are placed in the same place. The cym in S/H was transferred last year.

I had a phal that bloomed last summer in S/H for 14 weeks straight.

I may be wrong, but that's what I'm seeing.

I have two Promenaea's that r about to bloom (in a month? This is my first time blooming them myself, so not sure how long it'll b till they bloom?), both from same place, same size, and one is in bark, one is in S/H (has been in S/H for 7 months), & they r both throwing spikes. But the one in S/H is farther along with its spikes (they r about a cm longer than the bark grown Prom.) The one in bark, I can only barely see the spikes (I only noticed b/c I saw the inflorences on the S/H Prom. & thought I'd look at the other one) So, I will keep my eye out for how long the flowers last compared to one-another! They r growing fairly equally, but the Prom. in S/H is doing noticeably better (not by a huge wide margin, but noticeable)
