Default Rhynchostylis retusa x Rhynchostylis coelestis Rhynchostylis retusa x coelestis S/H

This poor Rhyncho has not done anything for a few years. Last year at least it put on roots, this year, nothing. I took it out of the slate basket and all the roots looked fine. Not one single bad root.
I was sick of watering it everyday and not seeing any results. Last weekend I gathered up all my courage and repotted it in S/H. I just followed instructions (First Ray), and pictures of how others have done it. I hope I got it right..

Andrew

This was how it was potted before...

you got it right; that is a large specimen you got with large robust roots...make sure the roots do not touch water for the next couple of months, let the roots go towards the water and get used to it...a couple of the bottom leaves might wither and fall off...
spray the top layer of clay every other day(thats the part that gets dry soonest)
let it stay warm and humid...when the temps in winter get to be below 65F put it indoors

Looks good. Just be aware that evaporative cooling from the clay will make the root zone cooler and this can be a problem for Vandas, in the winter a heat mat might be a good idea to keep the temps up, I have to do that for my phals in S/H.
