Default Blooming Burrageara Nelly Isler w/ browning leaf tips

Here is an update on My Nelly Isler. It was transplanted into S/H on October 27.

It had three smaller growths and has since sprouted two more growths, since transplant.

I noted two spikes in mid February and the first spike has started to bloom, on March 18. Photo below. This first spike is very short. Could this be from the stress of transplant?

The second spike in the photo is somewhat taller.

Also, there are some brown spots and leaf tips especially on the two newest growths. This in shown in the second photo with the spike and the last photo. It has been suggested that this is from cold water. Any other possibilities? Any help would be most welcome.

Bob

I just bought this. I am trying to avoid direct light and cold water. Brown leaf tips can also be a result of salt burn. I can't really tell you how this will work. I might get a fungicide, too, and try that. I got rid of all my oncidiums because I hated the leaves, then brought home this and Onc. Twinkle. Good luck!

right, the clay itself has those salts that you need to flush out regularly...the fertilizer salts can deposit on the roots and make those leaves get those dry tips....plus the plant debris and wastes need to be flushed out too...
Congratulations for blooming this on S/H
Its a beautiful flower with festive colors ...the texture and form is classic.
Overall...your plant is happy and healthy.

I could be wrong but looks like a little fungal infection to me. I would remove from any leaf any bit that is showing signs of this, and increase air circulation. Secondly I would treat with whatever fungicide you feel comfortable with. Just my 2 cents, I'm no expert.

Thanks for the inputs, I'll crank up the ventilation, flush more regularly with rainwater and treat with fungicide. In the meantime the second spike is real close to blooming.
