Beautiful. I imagine it will put out quite the show once all the blooms open. love it. BTW Ryan, met a local grower at a society meeting last week, she says she grows many of her tolumnias in SH and has no problems. I`ll be on the lookout for more of these now for sure

Mine aren't in s/h, but this sure is making me consider it.

Any other success stories to share anyone? I have been purposely avoiding anything related to Tolumnias because I can't grow in anything other than S/H.

Sorry I have no other tolumnia in sh. To be fair, I havent tried again but not for belief it would fail. Sadly, I know of no other forum member who has tried this with me. I have a few plant I may try in sh. There is no reason they can't thrive this way. You just have to keep them happy and start with a robust plant. This one came from orchids.com and was grown in moss! Moss! I believe this is why it succeeded. The roots were already happy in a wet environment and paired with the airy nature of sh if just worked. Oh also heat. They need to stay warm to promote those thin roots.

I have three tolumnia moved to a "modified" S/H sometime this past spring. I'd managed to almost kill all three, and they're finally looking good, have more leaves, better roots, etc. Once they spike, I'll take a picture. But that might be awhile... they were pretty much toast and have quite a bit of recovery and growth ahead of them.

Don't want to say I can grow them in S/H until they spike. ;) But so far, beats looking dead. :D

They'll get there just be patient and water frequently. To this day I am not 100% sure my tol has roots in the actual water...algae has covered that area. However, based on how robust the plant is, I'm inclined to believe it has at least some roots in the water. I see them grow into the algae but if they continue on behind that I'm not sure. One thing is certain, the only way I'm getting this plant out of its pot and to destroy the pot!

Watering/misting daily is not really something I want to do, but I have yet to see a tolumnia that I don't want. Transferring one to S/H seems like a perfect excuse to try a bottle of KelpMax.

Could describe how your method is modified? I'd like to see pictures to if you have any to share.
