I just received my supplies today, (thanks Ray) and am preparing to start making the switch to S/H. I am going to use this thread to document the changes to the plants using before pics and update every so often.

So I want to make sure I am doing the steps correctly to make sure I have the highest success probability. So please bear with me if I ask a ton of questions.

What seems to be the first step is to help promote the growth of new roots. I purchased Dyna-Gro KLN Rooting Concentrate to help them along. Not sure the concentration I should use, 1tsp/gallon of water seems a good place to start? Do I strictly use the KLN, or should i mix that with other fertilizer(I got the MSU Fertilizer too). I have a seedling heating mat coming that I plan to use. Any other tips would be great.

Then I need to soak the leca in the KLN also right. Again, should I mix any of the MSU fertilizer into the soak. And before I replant, how much of the old roots do I cut off. I know the old roots will die in the new medium, but do the plants need the old roots while the new ones establish.

I will take the before pictures soon. I plan to picture the orchids in the pot, and then also pictures of the roots. Any other pics I should post, or is this overkill already

Thanks all. Hope this interests someone.

Does the plant you are potting in S/H have new roots?

Nothing Yet. Thats why I bought the Dyna-Gro KLN rooting fertilizer and the heating mat for underneath to try to promote some new growth. I dont plan to transplant any until I see new roots
