I have read a lot about when the best time to change to S/H, new roots, new growth, and time of year (spring) but my question is can I change to S/H when there are keiki's, as I have a problem with over watering and have a little bit of root rot on a Phal. that has keiki's but also has 4 new root growth above the rot, is it ok to put it in S/H with out any ill effects? The keiki's have leaves but no roots yet.
The keikis should be fine. I repotted a Phal with two keikis without any problem. I would remove the rotted roots if you have not already and sprinkle cinnamon over the affected area.
I would have to say that there is never a time one cannot move a plant into semi-hydro culture, but some are just better times than others, and you would just have to do a few things to mollify the plant if it isn't a great time.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer.
Ray not to sure what mollify means but thank you for the answer, I'm going to transfer to S/H this weekend, (about 10 plants).
Another way to state it is that the plant - if repotted at a poor time - might sulk and seemingly do nothing for as long as months, so you'll need to go out of your way to provide some pampering conditions to keep it from crapping out until it "gets over it".
