I think you're fine to repot. Just trim off the rotted roots with a sterile blade of some sort first. The new roots should take to the new media like ducks to water. Remember to soak the LECA in a KLN solution and then use that solution for the first watering. It should help promote more root growth. I don't think it will bother the Keikis much.

I use 14cm clear plantpots for S/H. I plug the bottom holes with golf tee pegs and airline tubing from aquarist shops. This gives me a 2 cm stand which stops the plants becoming 'top-heavy'. 5mm holes are drilled about 1 inch from the bottom. Working very well so far.

update -- all the mini catts are growing well. lots of new growths and roots. I changed the pots from the deli containers, to "Ball Freezer Jars", purchased at WalMart (they come in several sizes and are sold 4 or 5 to a pack) I changed then because the deli containers were too flexible. These Ball Freezer Jars are much sturdier. The Onc hyrbrid TOOK COMPLETE CONTROL of the hydroton, and the roots filled the pot within 3 months. And it's got a big spike

here's something interesting. This Onc (like all my other plants) spend the summer outside. This pot has a small Clover about halfway down, inside the pot. A seed must have found its way in. It's got a couple of leaves.

Boondock, is the picture of the oncidium hybrid? I wasn't sure so I thought I would ask....the leaves in the picture looked more like a Laelia to me, but I am no pro. Love the picture of the clover in the pot! It made me chuckle!

The first picture is Lc. Love Knot var. coerulea 'Carmela's Blue' (L. sincorana x C. walkeriana). This is a very small plant that does not get taller than about 4 inches, and very fragrant flowers. I bought two of them at Lowes, and 3 on ebay. Great for under lights.

The second image (in thread #34) with the clover, is an Onc hybrid.

I did not know that Lc. Love Knot would be so small....I purchased one off of ebay and I thought it was a seedling because of it's size....well it may still be considered a seedling, as I don't think I purchased it blooming size. Thanks!

hello RPfeiffer, yes they are very small plants. I've had mine about a year, they do not get taller. Perfect for underlights. They seem to grow from around the outside and form a thick matt. At the current rate of growth I will need to divide or transplant in a bigger pot in a couple years.

I describe the fragrance as a "flowery grape bubblegum"
