Interesting- I'm doing a side by side comparison trial with two identical (to start with) Phal schilleriana. One is in S/H and one in standard orchid mix. The one in S/H has more but smaller leaves; the one in bark mix has fewer but larger ones. I'd estimate that they have roughly equal leaf areas. I'm using Rays S/H fertilizer on both of them, and growing them side by side. For the summer they are outside in the shade where it is very warm, but I started this in November when there might have been more significant evaporative cooling in S/H.
Has anyone else noticed leaf size differences with S/H?
