Ok, so I probably shouldn't have left this as is because soon after posting my last response I realized that the system didn't work. The issue was that the airline tubes were not large enough to allow water and air to pass by eachother inside the tube. I had tried to resolve this by using two airline tubes, one for air to travel up to the reservoir and one for the water leave the reservoir. The issue with this was that once the water reached the air tube it would suck water up through that to level out the water in the reservoir. Then when the water line dropped there wasn't enough water weight to clear the air tube of excess water.(I hope that made sense)
I ended up spending alot of time and effort trying to get it to work but couldn't do it without making the unit very bulky and difficult to use.
But, I then came up with the idea of using a solenoid attached to a float switch to control the water level. It was very easy to put together and works great! The only challenge was finding a power supply and waiting for the parts to come in the mail.
I will post pictures and a better description of how it works and is put together later. I'm taking it up to my girlfriend's dorm today, so I will just take pictures when its all set up.
