Hello everyone, after doing a bit of research on my percivaliana I have learned that this plant is actually a lithophyte. Therefore, I'm strongly considering transplanting one of my divisions to a semi-hydroponic setup to compare the effects of semi-hydroponic setup vs standard orchid mix on the plant. Anyone here that have a perci with similar setup? Any particular advice before I go ahead and do this? If have any pics please share. Thanks!

I do, but I have not seen it in a year so I really do not know how it is doing. When I started it did not have that great a root system and I only had it for a few months prior. Cattleya mossie, lueddemanniana, jenmanii, and maxima love the stuff if that helps any.

Hmm? When you say have not seen it in years do you mean it's dead or...someone else is taking care of it for you?

Alex, I have not heard that it is dead. I have been away on business in Qatar since January 09. My teenage daughter has been taking care of the orchids in my absence.

I have mine in semi-hydro and its growing nicely. I haven't gotten it to bloom yet, but it is throwing out nice long leaves. Well, I will have to check it out when I get home. Its one of those I kinda ignore. I'll have more accurate info later tonight.

@ TYRDYL : Oh I see...good to know, maybe when you get back you can post some pics of it. Thanks! But from the looks of it, I think that its a bit too late for me to be transplanting my division as I have notice that it's already starting to spring new leads. :/
Maybe later on I'll set this up once the growth process has stopped.

Same here, I have 1 with 2 new leads and 1 more coming out. I'm hoping it actually blooms this year. It's bloom season is usually arround November - December. Please post some pics. Thanks!

This is my C. Percivaliana. I've had it three years. I grow it in Hydroton (LECA) in a clay pot. It's not s/h. I water heavily and then let it completey dry out.

Your method looks very successful! Nice looking plant and blooms.
