Yeah, I think it's icky as well. But I've already repotted several times in the past six months and honestly don't want to do it again just yet. It's not a large pot, I just want my phal to chill out. And besides, a whole new root system is slowly (very slowly) growing at the base of the plant, so I figured I'll repot when they're long enough to go into the media.
