Hello
i jast got a lot of phalaenopsis for my friend thats have a shop and when phal are out of blooming, she give me.
Now i want to make those phal in SH culture.
Do i need to find a transparent pot or i can make in other color pot?

Do i need plastic or i can drill a glass pot for SH?

Anoother question.. they not stay healty in their pot. When i looks root all have rot root.

1 of this is whitout root now
i make it in my orchidarium for stimulate root grows.
It's ok or is best make it now in a SH?

Simona,

There is no "law" that says a semi-hydro pot needs to be transparent. A lot of folks prefer that so they can see the root system. (They also hate it because is fosters algae growth.)

Plastic is the preferred material primarily due to cost and ease of drilling, but I have made S/H pots out of stuff as odd as Styrofoam coolers.

A plant with no roots has no way to absorb moisture, so keeping them really humid while they recover is an excellent idea, as it prevents desiccation.

Most orchid roots can carry chlorophyll, but it does not mean that the NEED clear pots to see the light.
