Paph leaves curling in S/H

OK, I bit the bullet last month and transfered my huge Paph sedini blush into S/H. It was in a traditional 12" pot, so I split it into 3 divisions. Two are doing great, with new growths already, but the third one has struggled since the transfer. The leaves have a good color, but they are curling backwards BIG TIME. The 3 divisions are sitting side by side with the same environmental conditions. Pulled the plant from the S/H. Roots are stable, but no sign at all of new root growth. Treated with Physan & root hormone and repotted in S/H.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Are all the divisions the same age? Or are the other two essentially pups from the one that is curling up?

All the divisions are pretty equal with a dozen or more growths per division. This was a BIG plant.

3 divisions of 12 growths - WOW! We are talking about Phrag. sedenii right?

My experience with Phrags and S/H is limited to 4 plants. Phrag. Olaf Gruss who has been suffering terribly since it went into S/H and Phrag. Cape Sunset, Phrag. Grouville 4N and Phrag. Maria Glanz who all showed some delay in activity once in S/H, but are now actively growing. Some leaf curling did occur with them all and I thought they would loose some leaves, but they are indeed growing. I just tried to keep the humidity up with misting etc and water in the reservoir.

I think the leaf curling has nothing to do with s/h culture itself, and might be an overall environmental thing, but may be due to improper timing of repotting.

My guess that had the plant be divided and repotted and moved into any medium/pot combination at the same time, the same thing would have happened.

For my Phrag Randy Macdonald division I did have curled edges and it bloommed and has new growths growing without curls

Ray - I agree. I don't think this has anything to do with the S/H. I have over 160 plants in S/H and have never seen curling this strong.

Smartie - So the curls on the original growths didn't subside?

I set the plant so that the leaves are directly in front of a misting humidifier. After 24 hours, the curling seems to have eased some. I'm going to leave it another 24 and then remove and see what happens.

Nope that growth is still curled. Same with my phrag albopurpureum division. They were both divisions that were sent by mail to be so they were stressed, but the curls remain. The new growths look normal
Your plant may get better because it is probably in better condition than the ones I got.
