Question Zygopetalums in S/H?

Is anyone growing zygopetalums in S/H? I've got some Hydroton and thinking about seeing if I can get mine to grow in it.

Zygosepalum Rhein Moonlight (or something like that, when looking for information about this plant, it appears there are some questions as to what it really is) just starting to put out some new roots, so I figured this is the time. Anyone got some hints?

Works great.

Just be sure the rhizome isn't buried.

Works great.
I use Hydroton (coarse). Mine is in bloom right now, 3 spikes. Make sure that the rhizome is at the surface, not burried.

Okay, it's been transplanted, and the rhizome is sitting at the surface, the roots in the Hydroton, and the pseudobulbs and leaves up above. Now to see how well it survives after a month or so...

Update...

My zygo hybrid has been in the Hydroton for a month now. I've seen lots of root growth, old roots extending into the media and new roots emerging, and today I saw a new growth starting!

Hope that means I have a happy plant now
