LOL well... my partner does care much about orchids (cannot tell the difference between Paphiopedilum niveum and Cattleya violacea, excep that one is white and the other purple )
If I place the orchids on the table, to show them, they are in another bigger pot covering the S/H pots...
on the top of that, I discovered by chance that if I leave some algae in the humidity trails, the cats do not drink the water in them
and on the other hand, you cannot really see much of the algae here:

Becca;
The algae may look black because it's so healthy and happy.
As Ramon said it's actually a very dark green. It doesn't hurt anything, just looks nasty.
Cheers.

No pressure!
Of course I've lost a few I wouldn't have chosen because I couldn't give it the conditions it needed to survive. Dendrochilums come painfully to mind.

LOL 2 years ago we went to an orchid show and he bought a very nice Phrag. Jason Fischer for me, just because he liked the name and it was red (I still do not understand the thing with the color but decided not to ask!)... I had always been afraid of trying Phrags... it's still alive, but have not flowered yet since then..

Stunning set up, Ramon. My spousal unit tolerates my hobby because he can use it as an excuse to buy a new tool so he can build me something....I am selling him short. I got a greenhouse, a temp activated venting system and a humidifier out of the deal, so no complaints on my end!
Jim, my s.u. won't go to any shows with me, so I drag along or meet up with folks who tend to be more interested in them. And, for the life of me, I can't keep a Dendrochilum alive, either

I agree with the others, great set up Ramon! and I must admit, that when my hubby tells me he thinks a flower on an orchid looks cool, well I take full advantage of the comment and buy it...for him...lol....even though he really isn't in to them...he's just humoring me. But he does help me do stuff that is orchid related...I haven't gotten a greenhouse out of the deal yet (that's down the road) but he has helped me put up my orchidariums and other misc stuff.....and it gives him an excuse to use his tools!
