Doritis in S/H - Orchid Board

Dear forum friends,

I have just moved one Doritis pulcherrima v. chumpornensis 'KF' in S/H, with coarse (about 2 cm) LECA beads, in a normal transparent orchid pot, and with a saucer underneath.

Being Doritis roots quite thick and different from those of Phals or Dtps., I was wondering wether this plant will do all right, and if I should take special care of it.

Mine are in S/h. Doritis, phals, dtps, all get the same treatment

I'll be interested to see how yours does. I have a Doritis pulcherrima var. coerulea in water culture that I was planning on changing to something else, and I was told that it's a good candidate to move to S/H. I just need to get the LECA, and work out a system with the pots.

Thank you Ray, this is reassuring.
Browsing through the posts, I didn't seem to be able to find anything about an adaptation to S/H period. For the time being, I am watering quite sparingly, just trying to keep the LECA moist, until new roots form. Do you think this might be OK?

this is good news. I can only tell you I have a Dtps Queen Beer 'Red Sky' from three years in S/H, and it regularly blooms for me twice a year, with lots of beautiful flowers. Also, I have a P. bellina which is growing like crazy and blooming, too.

"Adaptation period" is something of a misnomer.

Try this, and see if it explains stuff better: Adaptation after Repotting

Thank you Ray, I've downloaded the PDF. Actually, my orchids were grown in sphagnum, so the stress should be limited. The only thing I miss is bottom heating, but I might add it, since days now are quite cold.
