Hi Susanne,
I'm wondering if I got the time wrong that we were supposed to meet because none of the people who discussed chatting were there when I was (7-8:45 my time....Central Standard/Daylight Savings). Maybe I misunderstood???

Hi Vicki, we were there at I think 9PM your time, but I set up a separate chat room for us so we wouldn't interfere with the folks already in the chat room. Sorry you missed it.
I think it went well. Becca and I were able to answer quite a few questions. I think pot design was one of the more confusing issues. We also talked a bit about fertilzier and parts per million ppmm and how to figure that out.

Hi Terri,
I'm sorry I missed it, too. I didn't understand that there was gonna be a separate chat room, but even if I did, it wouldn't have mattered because I would have been there at the wrong time.
I'm glad it went well. I know you and Becca did a good job answering questions and I hope everyone "went home" feeling more comfortable with S/H after having learned more about it. If there's ever another chat session sometime, maybe things will work out for me to sit in on that one.

I got alot out of the chat, and I really appreciate everyone answering all my questions. I'm so new at this, that it scares me to even try it yet. But I'm soaking pellets (alifor) and have my plant picked out. It's a Blc. Rustic Spots that I thought I cooked it or dried it out too much. Not sure what's the real problem, but it's dying. It doesn't have any new growth, but I think I will lose it if I don't do something. It appears lifeless as is. Leaves are crinkled and stiff, and I haven't seen any signs of recovery. So now it's the right pot to put it in. I had one that was 3 1/2" high, and 4 1/2 inches wide. That won't work, right? It has to be taller? I'm trying to get a deli clear plastic pot. Will that do? I know you emphasized having a plant with new growth, but I'm really desparate to keep this plant alive. Opinions????

Kiki, I don't want to discourage you but I think you'll have a better experience with S/H if you start with a relatively healthy plant. My first 2 I transfered were ailing. One died, and the other nearly did. 2 years later it finally recovered and bloomed. I'd recommend a plant you aren't too attached to to start with. Oncs seem to make the transition pretty smoothly. Remember the existing roots on any plant transfered to S/H will rot, that's why it's soooo important to start with a plant showing new root nubbins. You need something to replace the existing root system that will learn to grow in LECA. I actually went out and bought an Onc for $10 as an experiment plant.
