Yep that much is clear, but if you drill 2 holes in the outer pot at the right height, it would be the same as having just one pot with two holes (except it wouldn't be translucid). I would then just use those 2 holes once a month when flushing the media with clear water, and use the gauge to maintain the water level between the flushings (Bringing the pot only once a month to the sink and only using a minimal amount of water + nutrient to fill the tank (if needed) in between)
I do understand that the nutrient, once it has been through the media, has slightly changed its composition, and that adding some of the original mix directly in the tank would somewhat "dilute" it, but as you should flush everything once a month anyway, would that be a big problem?
I drilled only 1 hole, because the LECA is not in contact with the outer pot.
So the system is more expensive than the one from Ray, has a water gauge (instead of being transparent, which also allows you to monitor the water height in the pot) , uses more water (because it's bigger) and in fact is more a display setting than anything else.
