Growing in Water -- Revived my Phals
Default Growing in Water -- Revived my Phals

I have two Phaleaonopiss orchids that have bloomed for 3 years.

Whenever they bloom, however, they get very weak and the leaves wilt.

What I lke to do is just soak the roots in H20.

I do not understand how they can live in water. You'd think they'd need air.

I was thinking of using an aquarium pump to pump air thru the water.

How is it possible that these grow it water??

not sure on soaking... but somehow... my phals seems to love water... even during night time... their medium is moist. but i dont see any signs of weak phals in my collection. I've tried a fertilizer which worked... someone recommend a fert (erecto biozon) i soaked the whole phal... i even submerged the whole plant in in... 3 capfulls of erecto biozon in a gallon of water. next three days boom you'll realize ur leaves will grow bigger mine... in just a week the leaves has doubled or tripled in size! anyway... ( erecto biozon is available i think in indonesia) there's ebay if u want to try

If the leaves of your phal lose their turgor during blooming, you're simply not watering enough. That's not to say that the medium you're using will tolerate more water without suffocating the roots, but that's the issue.
