Ray, the heat pad seems logical. When you have cold combined with wet, it sets the stage for rot. The heat pad is also recommended when you plant seeds or you either cover the pots or flat with a piece of glass to warm the soil, thus enhance germination. So I would think that warm water would be very conducive to generating new roots in S/H. I will try it next time.
