Default converting orchids and other plants to S/H

Hi,
I am new to this forum. A very nice person refered me
to here. I live in Western North Carolina with my husband, 5 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds 2 rabbits and fish. They keep us pretty busy.

I have been doing a lot of reading about S/H and would really like to try it with my orchids. The majority of what I have is slipper orchids. Besides them I have some Milts., Maasdevallias, moth orchids, a few catts and misc mini orchids. I also have african violets, streps, and a few other different plants.
I guess you could say I am a plantaholic, but I am "not" looking for any kid of cure.

So I am here to learn and hopefully one day I can actually help others set up their plants for S/H.
Happy Growing,
Doris
Western North Carolina

Hi Doris,
Welcome to the OB!
This is the place to be for orchid (and animal) lovers!
Feel free to ask questions, there are many very experience growers here, who are more than happy to help!

I am a big s/h fan, before s/h I was an orchid killer.
Since I switched over to s/h, I have been growing phals & catts for just over a year.

BTW, african violets LOVE s/h. I have one in s/h and it has bloomed for me constantly, and it is so low maintaince, no more soil and watering problems!

Cheers,
Juliet

Hi Juliet,
First of all, I love your name.

Thank you so much for the welcome.
Thank you for letting me know how your african violet is doing. They were on my list to try also. I am especially interested in the minis because they tend to dry out the fastest.

Hi Jim,
First Rays is where I really got interested when I started searching.
I think I have been all over his site at least a dozen times.
Thank you,
