Hi,
There are others on this forum with more knowledge on this, but from what I know and have read on OB, s/h is not a miracle cure. Healthy plants with actively growing new roots are the best candidates. I would leave your slippers in sphag and bag until some new roots appear. Just my

I personally leave my plants in sphag and bag inside. I'm not quite sure which is best to do about opening or closing the bag. I have read that you can leave it open or close it. If it's closed it's necessary to open it nearly everyday for a while to have some air circulation.

I agree with Camille - s/h is no miracle - and I keep the bags indoors, warm and shady, but I also seal them up and don't open them except to check after a few weeks.
One thing about rootless paphs, recovery seems to be a 50/50 thing - some will, some won't, and in 35 years of growing them, I have no idea why.

I would use the pumice over your other options, but it's pretty variable, so i don't know how well it would work.
