It took about 3 weeks to convert everything, working on 5 or 6 a night. Hardest part was cleaning out all the bark and organics and trimming bad roots. I took a leap of faith and converted several plants that were in bloom, bud, spike or sheath. I lost just one wonderful bud on a LC Cattleya. Other than that, absolutely NOTHING went downhill. I had 7 Paphs in bud, that definitely stalled for a couple of weeks. I was sure that the buds would blast but they have all now flowered. In fact a P. Noirmont has 2 blooms open and a third will probably open by the end of the week.
FWIW, I also transfered over about a dozen African Violets that were blooming big time. They lost about 25% of their flowers, but have rebounded wonderfully. The foliage is looking fantastic. They seem to REALLY like the constant supply of moisture.
As a matter of observation, it seems to me that the leaves on all of my S/H plants are WAY more erect than they were in bark. Especially my Paphs and Phrags. The leave are sticking up at about a 75 degree angle instead of laying flat in the pot. Has anyone else noticed this?
