  1. What is the formula of the fertilizer you are using?
  2. At what strength are you mixing it?
  3. How often are you applying it?
  4. Please describe how you water.

Hey Ray!

1+2. I have MSU for RO water, and I only have tap water.. I cant find MSU for tapwater in Sweden, seems like the only guy that carries MSU has the RO water version only. so I have been using a little less than ½ tsp per gallon of that one. I also alternate with a store bought fertilizer which has NPK 5-2-5 with micronutrients, I usually take 1 tsp per gallon of that. I have recently added a little KLN.

3+4. I flush the whole pot twice a week with tap water, I fill the pot to the top and let it drain. Then I pour out all the water and refill the reservoir with fertilized water.
During the days I sometimes spray the leafs to increase humidity.

Currently I have moved all of my phals away from the window and into a shady spot, maybe that will stop them from producing new leafs and concentrate more on the roots..?

I wish that the rot could stop..

Hm...

You are certainly not overdoing the fertilizer! What is the water quality like?

I'd quit misting them, especially if your temps are on the cooler side. That may be the culprit behind the black rot. I would also recommend as Lene did that you cut all the flower spikes off.

I have 4 plants in S/H, and my experience has been that if you repot when no new roots are just emerging the plant will really struggle. I have 1 Phal that was like that. It's been in S/H for about a year and is doing great now but for the first month or so I wasn't sure if it was going to make it. I have another one that I plopped in with only one new root, the rest old, and that thing went nuts. It grew 2 new leaves, and the old roots I can see against the side of the pot look just fine. It's been in S/H since May.

Resist the temptation to take it out of the pot. Normally in Phals new roots follow new leaf growth, so if it's growing new leaves stay tuned for new roots.
