Default Dendrobium in S/H?

I bougth my first Dendrobium today, and now i feel a bit lost... since my experiece is mostly with phals.
I grow most of them in S/H, and would like to know if i can grow my new Den. in this kulture as well?
It is blooming at the time, but theres some new roots developing... should i wait till the blooming is finished, or does Dens adapt as easily as phals to the S/H?

I do have some reading to do, about Dens... Im a bit afraid to kill her...

You betcha! I have had several dendrobiums in s/h, all have done well after they adjusted! I would wait until after it is done blooming, but that is just me. I have found that they take some time to adapt, but do well as long as you have new root growth.

Default Dens. in S/H

Hi Lene Th, I have 5 Dens and they are all in s/h medium. They used to be in reg. bark mix but I had little success getting them to grow or flower. I changed medium about 6 months ago and the change is unbelivable. I did change while the Dens or the Phals while they were in bloom.

Check out some of my orchids.
These are older photos taken soon after repotting.

Thanks for the respond!
I will do the switch already today, becourse the medium its in now is wet and declaying.
Theres plenty of new root-growth, and i hope it will take into the S/H without any big problems...

Default concerning S/H

Thank you for this topic..what little I have seen of this medium so far, looks to be very successful..I went online in hopes of ordering a small bag for starters...shocking...the shipping costs twice the product!...I'll have to check around locally, though I may have to travel some...by phone first!...thanks for the great pix of S/H...your chids look happy..Eileen
