Default Growing Media Question

In my local stores I have found Hydroton growing media. What is the difference between this product and PrimeAgra (LECA)?

They're both LECA, PrimeAgra supposedly wicks up the moisture better. You can check out Ray's website, Welcome to First Rays Orchids, he better explains the difference of Hydroton and PrimeAgra and also Alifor. Good luck with your chids.

Thanks! I bought the bag of Hydroton. While I was researching it on the internet is how I found this board. Now, I am trying to find out if a local store sells PrimeAgra. It sounds like a better product.

I guarantee they do not. It is only available by mail order from a couple of places.

Thanks for the info Ray. We have a local store that sells specialty plant lights, racks, and hydroponic stuff. I checked their website and they don't sell PrimeAgra. They sell Hydroton, the same as the local garden center in which I found it at. I originally saw this type of media at the Garden Expo that we have every year in Madison in February. This was the first I had actually seen the product in the store.

I enjoyed reading your research results.

Now, I can't wait to get the PrimeAgra!
