Dyna-Rok II
Is anyone using this for S/H or just as a regular potting medium? It is a diatomite product.

Yes. I grow a Eulophia callichroma, a terrestrial, (or what's sold to me as that) in it. I added a bit of organic material to enrich the mix.
I also use Aussie Gold, another diatomite product. Same thing, I use organics to enrich the mix for terrestrials.
I solely use Aussie Gold for my Zygopetalum hybrid and Dendrochilum tenellum(?) - (could be a different species like tenellum, it's my avatar pic). They've been growing for years. Root mass is insanely dense for both plants!

I have a spider plant, a pineapple lily, a tuberose,a paddle plant and a plumeria all thriving in S/H. Mine are in prime agra. All my orchids dens, phals, neos, cyms, are in S/H. As soon as I get an orchid into S/H it goes. I am getting where I can only grower orchids in S/H. I overwater them in other mediums. My new bulbophyllum medusae is the only orchid exception. ruth ann

Hi King,
I have 2 zygos and need to repot. I looked up the Aussie Gold and there seems to be 4 different blends. Which one do you use for your zygo?

Lorraine, I use the large grade. It's a pretty standard grade. The people who sell it usually recommend that over everything else. I find it to be diverse enough in itself. The pieces of diatomite aren't uniform in size... So if I bought a bag of large grade Aussie Gold, and I have orchids that have fine roots and orchids with large roots, I start separating particles of diatomite according to size by hand and use accordingly.
