And why, sometimes, when a video is posted does the screen here then blow up to super-size? That's a rhetorical question, but very annoying.

Agree 100% about HBNH dude. he tries to preface with obligatory "consider your environment!" stuff but then the rest of the blog or video is full of prescriptive absolutes. He then uses photos of his own plants grown in his environment as proof that his method is universally the best. To newbies who just bought a ton of expensive plants that they don't want to kill, a few videos/articles like that scares them away from any sort of experimentation. He's not alone though. Prescribed orchid growing is just so prevalent. People follow the given advice as gospel and are disappointed when their plants don't do well even after following EXPERT advice, turning them off from the hobby forever.

I once saw a tiny phal at Trader Joe's with the instruction to "water with 1 tablespoon of water a week" ???

In St Louis we would always have people come to the cactus and succulent shows who thought they needed to watch the weather report, and give their cactus one tablespoon of water every time it rained in Tucson. They asked us why their cacti all died.

The other great story people somehow believed was the vibrating saguaro full of deadly tarantula eggs. We were asked about that multiple times every show.
