I had a bunch of orchids and moved and all but one went to other homes. I've got the on Phal left and I'm keeping it happy in 100% leca SH, but I think the leca dries out too much in our air conditioned home. (I do heavily spray/mist the top of the leca every morning).

I'm thinking that adding some (~25-33% mixed into the leca above the reservoir line) would offer an improvement into a SH environment where the pot gets flooded twice a week.

What is everyone's thoughts on something like the above?

Steve, I have done that, and it can be an improvement, but I find a top layer of rockwool is even more effective.

Ok, good to know, essentially a top insulating layer is better than a mix throughout. Thank you

Steve, I mix a little in with the LECA, and have good success with also putting a single layer of glass or rock pebbles on the top.
