I just moved my Masd to S/H in coarse prime agra. I will check back with results in a couple weeks.

I'm thinking of putting a couple in s/h too. I'm going to check their culture sheets for temp/humidity first. It can get pretty hot here during the summer however I have the MistKing system for my GH so I'm hoping that will be enough to regulate the temps.

Albeit Ray suggests against using S/H outdoors when temps go below 40, I have a Masd. coccinea var. alba that has been growing in coarse Prime Agra for over 3 months now, growing through temps swings from 35-95 just fine. It was a smaller division I put in there (to see how it worked out) and it is even blooming right now; albeit the bloom is almost 1/2 the size a mature plant produces, I believe this due to the size of the division not the medium it is in.

I have a Masdevallia Dean Haas in hydroton since Sept. 2008 and it doubled in size and produced flowers during 4 months non stop.
Now it is resting I guess... but still growing lots of new leaves.
I noticed that it needs a lot of water... and the reservoir tends to be too small on my pot, so I spray the top of the pellets every day to keep it happy (if I don't, new leaves come out wrinkled). I sometimes loose a leaf or two (bacterial infection due to spraying ?) but way more new ones compensate. Lots of roots growing after each new leaf.

I'd love to see a picture.
