Ouch. We have pretty good water, but really pay for it, as the vacuum sewer system (flat island = no slopes for gravity to help) was an expensive afterthought. The "base" monthly water bill (even if you use none) is $35 for up to 2000 gallons, plus $85 for the sewer. They go up proportionally once you exceed that. I broke down and had a $eparate meter put in for irrigation (and boat washing/motor flushing) so there would be no sewer charge.

WW - what do you use for RO storage? I'd be happy to work with you to automate refilling and an automatic shutoff.

My "base" bill is $33 per month, which includes 5K of water. Then we have a "waste water" charge depending on gallons used, a $7 per month "meter repair." The last time we forgot to turn off a hose outside completely, it ran for about a week and water bill was $340. I imagine next bill will be similar. Waah, waah, wahh. No sewer... septic. Just paid $8.4K to have whole thing replaced two years ago. Not exactly "cheap" sewer.

Yes, let's discuss automatic shutoffs. But I'll wait to see if DCoconuts wants me to start a different thread. I've hijacked two or three of his threads, with integrity of course, in the past week. Whoops! Should I go give myself a moderator lecture?

Different subject entirely. If you haven't started one already, I will.

Get outta my thread yous lousy kids!!!

Lol. I put my first orchid in true S/h tonight, Zoo. sirpentium (sp? I can’t fully read the tag) and I’ll let you know how it goes, I’m pumped. I think I’ll begin switching my phals and minis into s/h as well

What do you use for really large containers? I sourced 32z soup containers and they will do the job for almost everything but some, like my phrag, are way too big but the next size up container I found is a gallon juice container or a 3 gallon mop bucket and the juice container is a bit bootleg, even for me, and the bucket is way too big

I'm baaaaack.

If the container needs to be pretty, look in the large glassware section of a WallyWorld or other big box store in their houseware section. I have one big phrag in one of those ice tea dispensers, one in a big glass cookie jar with straight sides. Bathroom section you can find gallon or so trash cans. And your local thrift shop in the glassware section.

If no need to be pretty, look on Amazon for the 64 oz Basix Round Clear Food Storage Deli Container With Lids.

If you're going to transfer more to S/H make sure they're putting out new root growth for easier/quicker success.
