This was actually the pot it came in and I did take it out of old medium when I brought it home (3 months ago) and roots looked good then....I may pull it out and check the "yellowing plant" out.

Did your project work? I'm interested because I am working on my first mounting project but with a old ficus branch and thinking about posting in a ceramic pot for the base with rock/tile/foam...
