That is incorrect. There is no one thing that reduces to the 'only thing that matters,' because what you say and what you mean to say both matter. I never said anything different. If you say or write something different than your intended meaning, it is up to you to identify that difference and 'iron it out.'

It's something that comes up, even if you already use perfect grammar and spelling.

Now really if there's nothing else to add to the discussion of binomial nomenclature and of greges...

I don't really care for this thread, either. I always preferred poetry as one didn't have to adhere so closely to the rules of the English language (which are quite complex, in my opinion). As for judging others by their manner of writing, I refuse to do so. I understand that people are more than the sum of their words.
Concerning the misspelled and mispronounced Latin names, I think it would be wonderful if the experts on this board would compile a list of Latin names spelled correctly with their pronunciations, then post it as a sticky. Many of the common names can be found easily but some of the more uncommon species names must be hidden away quite well. Let us make the game a little more fair.

I don't judge others on their knowledge of nomenclature, unless they're supposed to know that sort of thing due to business, education, etc. Everyone makes mistakes. As whatshisname said, people have the right to be wrong. They also have the right to not care if they're wrong. These are personal to each person. However they do not have the right to say that their being wrong doesn't matter. It's akin to driving in traffic, getting cut off badly by a rude driver, and then having that driver give you the finger. The mistakes one makes are not the true measure of a person. How one handles their own mistakes is.
