Naming of Hybrids ( weird/wonderful ? )
is possibly the most unscientific of all. I can understand when a breeder uses a Memorial name - honouring a person that has passed away, or a combination of both parent' names - but some defy imagination
Phal Ugly Person
Phal Wild Turkey - there is an OB posting. The bloom doesn't remind me of a turkey at all !
Phal Super Stupid
C Oxymoron
Phal Miva Fanny Believe Always
Paph Alien Surfer Dude
I know some names are strange because of the English translation, so sort-of OK.....but...
Are there other strange names you have come across ?

Bill Thoms made an epicatt hybrid that was SO ugly, it was registered as Never Remake This.
Allen Black registered a Phal. Don't Litter. I'm going to have to ask him about that one.

Could Wild Turkey have been named under the influence of bourbon?
I'd like to know the parents of Oxymoron and I can almost imagine what Alien Surfer Dude might look like.

Maybe that one doesn't reproduce as readily as straight rabbits have a reputation for doing?
(No offense intended here--I personally resemble the remark. )

Parents are : C Precious Stones x C brevipedunculata. Registered in 1992. It must be a red as the parents are red and actually very nice.

I thought the parents might have been contradictory.

The Phal Wild Turkey that I posted about is a bright magenta, BTW.
My plant with the most "fun" name has to be Blc. Walhalla 'Frog Level' from Carter & Holmes.
