I am no chemist and I don't know the difference between ethanol and methanol, but I posted a thread on here a year or more ago about the use of methanol. I can't find it now. Anyways, attached is an article from the COC in 2009 on that which sounds similar to the use of vodka. I tried the methanol for a while on a Beallara Peggy Ruth Carpenter plant that I had divided into 3 parts. It wasn't much of an experiment because I managed to kill 2 of the 3 plants But I suspect it was for other reasons and I can't remember which one survived! Anyways after taking two years to recover, it is about to bloom. I am now tempted to try the vodka!

Methanol is ecotoxic, more than ethanol is.

Didn't Jerry's Grow Fertilizer use a little bit of alcohol in it? I don't remember the detail, though. There are always "trendy" fertilizers, and it was one of them about 10 years ago.

I contacted Jerry a few years ago about licensing his patent to reproduce "Jerry's Grow" using MSU fertilizer, and he gave me specific permission to do so.

If you look into the patent claims, you'll note that high-nitrogen fertilizers must be used, and the alcohol (methanol)-to-fertilizer ratio is between 1:1 and 2:1.

I did not follow through, as that much alcohol makes it be both poisonous and flammable, so a hazardous material to ship.

Silken - it is only proven effective on high-light plants, and a beallara doesn't really qualify as such.
