Default sending a keiki from Europe to USA

From what I have read so far, if I wanted to send a keiki (Phalaenopsis equestris) from Europe to USA, this would be considered import to USA and the following papers would be required:
- at the USA end: import permit
- at the European end: a CITES certificate (to verify that the plant was artificially propagated) and a phytosanitary certificate.

I bought the mother plant some 6 months ago from a nursery here in Belgium. But what I would send across the pond is a keiki, not the original plant.

I suppose the nursery could provide a CITES certificate for the mother plant. But I am clueless with regards to the phytosanitary certificate. How much could these certificates cost?

Is there a simpler way? After all, I'm not a grower/exporter.

Wow, Val, I didn't think you were seriously thinking of doing this. I will see if I can figure anything out, but others will be along soon who may know.

Thumbs up

I love the orchid lover family! Even if this is to much to do, I love your heart Val to even entertain my heart in wanting a equestris baby . Thank you my friend, you made my day, even if nothing can come of this... I am honored by your heart to wonder and inquire.

Much love and smiles to you

an easier (and much cheaper) way would be to order a plant from an american vendor, and have it sent directly to your friend. last I heard, a phytosanitary certificate cost 60 euros, and the cites certificate is about the same. it's only practical for large shipments. you could buy about 20 plants for the price of the certificates.
