information, then down load a form to register from R.H.S,fill the form send 7,50 sterling pounds mail it,if no body has registered your cross,they will registered your cross thats all.veekay

so i would have to be the first person to bloom it? i havent bloomed it, so it will have to wait until after that. but after that, i will do the research, and really try to find the originator. if and when i find the originator, would i ask them if i could name it? or what? i think its something i want to put the work into, because this would mean alot to the mother.

You don't have to bloom it first, but you need to bloom it to take the photo that accompanies the registration.

They probably would register it if you just sent in the form, fee, and photo - but the originator of the cross has, and deserves, the right to name the cross if he or she so chooses. At least trying to contact the originator is the right thing to do.

This is really the crux of the issue. If you are not the breeder, you certainly can register the cross without the breeder's permission. Whether it's ethical to do so is another matter.

Something else to bear in mind before you put in the effort of flowering it. The breeder can no doubt grow these plants better than you, has kept some of the bigger seedlings for growing on and is likely to flower those plants before your plant flowers. It's quite possible/probable that the breeder will register the cross before your plant flowers, which puts a disappointing end to a nice idea.
