I want one of them.... is perfectly for a DISCO NIGHT...
But I prefer the species, plants that have been growing without the men for thousands of years...

As a university student studying molecular biology and knowing exactly how this is done, this article got me hot.

:P

(PS. I've made glow-in-the-dark E. coli using a similar method!)

This is too cool! I prefer species too, but this is really something else.

Yes, you're right! But the lab strains we use aren't the dangerous ones...I could probably drink a litre and be ok...well, maybe a little sick because that would be GROSS.

For fun? I'm a photographer!

This is pretty wild and weird. I wonder what kind of energy is required to drive this, and whether or not the plant suffers metabolically.

I'm going to hazard to guess that it's an ATP driven process seeing as it is a luciferase-type gene that they're using :P

Interesting concept. Even-so, This trick was used a long time ago when I was a young student. They crossed a tobacco plant with a firefly, and the meristem tissue glowed the brightest. I don't know what good it did (Maybe they invented self lighting cigarettes?).
