Thanks, Gin. I see now that they are using a sprayer so I guess that means foliar feeding. I'm thinking for drenching the medium about one 325 mg aspirin per gallon??

Well, insects and plants... it's just tug of war. Plants have their own defenses, insects their own weapons. Some plants have mechanisms that work well against some insects, and are completely ineffective against others. Some insects are adapted to attack certain plants and not others. I believe that no plant want to be infected or devoured, but I also believe that some insects are able to recognize external signals that tell them the plant is weak, offering little resistance. Do weak plants emit any kind of chemical that can be detected by insects? Honestly, I can't answer that question. It is possible, but I don't believe in this because weak plants can't afford wasting energy that way. Releasing chemicals in the air in such situation would only make death come faster

I hadn't seen through this point of view, but now that you mention, yes, it is well possible that unhealthy, terminal plants involuntary emit chemicals in the air. On the other hand, I can't remember having read any scientific paper on that subject...

Might be a paper somewhere, finding it would be the problem .
If not, having the equipment to measure chemicals emitted would be , any way just a random thought . Gin

What is the ASA quantity in the aspirin tablet you use. Here in Belgium we have 100 mgr ASA (for children) and 500 mgr ASA in one tablet? Very interesting subject of discussion.
Many thanks.
