Help needed with R. digbyana study
Default Help needed with R. digbyana study

Hi everyone!

I am slowly putting together a preliminary study on Rhyncholaelia digbyana, and I could use some help.

I need some high quality photographs of the flower and plant and permission to use them. Full credit will be included in the resulting paper if and when it is published.

Here are some specific prompts:

1. Closeup of the fimbriation.
2. Closeup of the throat and column
3. Closeup of closeup of the column with viscidium and anther cap.
4. Closeup of pollinia and viscidium free of anther cap
5. Back of the flower, especially the back of the lip.
6. Seed pod

This is a lot to ask but I would also be infinitly grateful for a cross section of a flower. Included in this would be a cross section of the ovary. It will also be important to note if there is an internal nectary along side the ovary and if it has nectar (and how much). I will include my hypothetical illustration as a guide, though it was not made from a real observation, rather a guess as to how it will look. I hope mine will bloom in the spring but id love to get on this before then if possible.

Please contact me if you are able to help!

Thanks for considering!

I'll check in with you next time mine blooms! I have a 'Mrs Chase' with a huge new growth that decided it wasn't interested in blooming this year, despite getting what I think are 5 star light and humidity accomodations. maybe next growth...

Mine has yet to bloom, but if it does I’d be happy to help.
