I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet:
Aerosolized alcohol is highly flammable, vapors can be explosive. Be careful! It should only be used in a well ventilated area.
Also, 70% isopropyl alcohol is a better disinfectant than 91%.
For surface disinfection, contact time is important, I think it's at least 20 seconds for 70% alcohol hand sanitizers, I don't know what it is for alcohol spray.
Read the label on those Chlorox wipes, mine says the surface has to be "visibly wet for four minutes".

Did that for several years and never had a problem.
Wait, Ray! The REI for Physan 20 is 12 hours... Even though it seems like an arbitrary standard number, I really don't know how serious is that because the information as to "why" is not provided.

But... you used it in your shampoo?! I guess that means the 12h are an overkill...

REI is applied to pesticides and disinfectants at their intended usage concentrations. It is a safety factor guideline, not an absolute “before=dangerous/after=safe” number.

The chemicals in Physan are also used in swimming pools, yet people are not kept from the water for 12 hours.

Physan 20 is outlawed in Europe and Canada. There are much safer things to use. I would not put it in your shampoo. Cancer caused from chems is a real thing. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED OR IN CONTACT WITH SKIN. https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/...an_20_msds.pdf

Getting back to the original question, plain soap and water is more than adequate to destroy coronavirus. Nothing else is better on surfaces that tolerate water and soap.

As the originator of this thread I feel I need to point out that this was early days of the pandemic when people were disinfecting groceries and such and the stores were all out of rubbing alcohol.
