I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has any experience using the product Tissue Gard.
Saw a listing on Ebay
TISSUE GARD Orchid Flask & Tissue Culture Contamination Control | eBay and it states, " revolutionary new preservative manufactured specifically to control contamination in both plant tissue culture and invitro seed sowing and flasking. TISSUE GARD is a heat stable preservative/fungicide that when added at optimal doses, prevents or reduces microbial contamination in plant tissue culture. Because it is heat stable, it can be autoclaved. So it can be added to media before sterilization. It does not interfere with invitro seed germination or callus growth or regeneration"
and additionally it states,
" Nothing was ever added in addition to the TISSUE GARD. Using this method, it would also be possible to flask orchids on the kitchen counter with no flasking box. I have several flasks at different stages of germination all using just the TISSUE GARD with no sterilization done before flasking."
It would be interesting to see if this product actually works as no sterilization would be required and anyone would/could make their own flasks at home without all the hassle that is normally required.
If you've used this product would love to hear from you and how you feel it worked for you
I have no affiliation with the seller or with this product. Just looking for honest info on how this worked for you
