aborted pod, can it still work?

friends, i have a predicament
my tiny trader joes phal had a small seed pod about an inch long that started forming in early november
i came in today to the pod and most of the plant's leaves fallen off and yellowed at the bases
is there any chance the pod has viable seeds?

According to this AOS article (Harvesting Times of Orchid Seed Capsules for the Green Pod Culture Process) Phalaenopsis pods should be harvested at 120 - 140 days for green pod sowing. If your pod has only been developing for half that time, then I would say no.

Also, have you familiarized yourself with the procedures for sowing orchid seeds? It is a complicated process usually performed in a lab with specialized equipment. Even if your seed pod was viable, it probably wouldn't do you any good.

yes i have been reading the DIY flasking articles and found OSP's media and a few people at school have lab equiptment i can borrow and i'm practicing sterile technique

i have 2 larger, older pods on other phals doing ok and a paph pod

Sorry about the Phal dropping leaves. In the cooler months it's very important they not stay continually wet. That often causes what happened to yours.
