I'm going to start flasking here soon myself an would LOVE to have some B. Little Star seeds! Susiep, It was probably a self cross, unless you had another Cattleya, BLC, SLC, LC, Encyclia or Epi in bloom at that moment... I would guess 5-7 months for ripe capsule...
Dorothy, Not sure if this may help with capsule gestation time, it's the best I found so far...

They look pretty close to me, but what do I know!?
How long has it been? Was it in bloom around Christmas? That list that Dorothy put up leads me to believe that they should split around 4 months (+ or -). Yours look fatter and more mature than mine. I thought I was farther along.  |

Just in case, I should get ready. Someone suggested surrounding the pod with a coffee filter. I can do that. What happens when it splits? Do the seeds spill out? Is it ok to cut it off after it splits? Then what? I promised seeds to some people. How do I package them? (ziplock, vial, etc) Thanks for any advice!

If you catch it with just a crack, than you can take it off of the plant and move it to still air to harvest the seed. If you know it's really close (like for the other two) you can cut the spike and put it in water inside like a cut flower. There you can monitor it more closely and if it opens up you can salvage some seed off of your counter.
If it splits on all "seams", you'll loose a LOT of seed (but not all) unless you did something to catch it. They are sooooo tiny and will blow away with just a small breeze. The coffee filter thing works fine. If you inspect it every day, you will probably catch it in time.
Before packaging DRY them! Once dry, store them dry and in the fridge. Did I mention to keep them dry?
Package in tracing paper, parchment paper, or copy paper. Filters work, but have a rough surface that seed will kind of cling to.
