I am getting a flask of Trisetella hoeijeri in a couple weeks. I have deflasked larger plants years ago, but this will be my first attempt with a miniature. My plan is to do the following:
- Clear Shoe box with a 2” layer of small Leca,
- on half I will add a layer of New Zealand Sphagnum 1” deep, set half the seedlings on the moss and cover over the roots with some chopped up Sphagnum.
- I will put up the others into small 2” net pot compots in sphagnum. Then set those in the other side of the shoe box directly on the Leca.
- Place a heating mat (temperature controlled) under the box to keep it around 75 degree Fahrenheit (24C) minimum.
- Light it with 6500K artificial light (low lighting) for the first couple of months and slowly move it up to Medium Light.
- Also, slowly add holes in the lid over the first couple months.
Any of you experts with experience deflasking, especially with miniatures, have a different recommendation or suggestions?
