Phal Keiki or Flower spike?? Male
Default Phal Keiki or Flower spike??

Hello!

Is anyone able to tell me if this is a keiki or a flower spike, or is it still too early to tell? This one doesn't look like what I would normally see when my phals start branching out.

Thanks

Great thanks. It shouldn't be a keiki given the current state of the plant and temperature, but I guess time will confirm. The phal is in full flowering mode and still has lots of flowring energy... it should be pushing out more flower spikes if anything, it's in bloom with only 2 of 6 buds open. This is the first node from the top, normally this is where it should branch out if it does. I had noticed it was plump so I uncovered and watered it to help it grow, this is the result lol

Anyone else? I'm trying to find early stage keiki pictures but not finding anything that small.

Too early to tell, but plants prone to forming keikis can do so at any time.

It's a noid phal so I have no clue of its parents... however this is it's 3rd flowering under my watch and it has never produced keikis or branched out either, so all this seems unusual to me. Also, the plant is in good shape, leafs and roots, I know sometimes they produce keikis when the plant is in danger, this isn't the case.

My first impression was that the spike was branching
You'll have to let us know what it turns out to be!
